Terms of Service

The agreement that governs your use of Writ: accounts, plans, billing, and acceptable use.

Effective September 21, 2026 · Version 3.0

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Writ ("the Service"). The Service is operated by Benjamin Garcia, carrying on business as “Logiciels Writ”, NEQ 2282397514 ("Writ", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms, theAcceptable Use Policy, and thePrivacy Policy, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Writ is the API and MCP layer for sites that have no API. It lets you record a browser workflow, describe a goal for AI to build, or discover an action from the network, and publish the result as a callable REST endpoint at /v1/{slug}/{path}and an MCP tool. Writ also provides Monitors that watch a page for changes and fire a workflow in response, a credential vault, agents that run on your own machine or our managed cloud, and a marketplace for publishing and running workflows. The Service is offered as a cloud platform and via local/BYO agents you run on your own hardware.

3. Account registration

You must provide accurate information and a verified email address. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials, including API keys (wt_), consumer keys (csk_), and OAuth tokens (wto_), and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful, authorized purposes. Writ automates work a person could do in a browser, on sites you are authorized to use, with your own credentials and data. The full rules, including prohibited activities and your responsibility for each target site you choose, are in theAcceptable Use Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate it.

5. Plans, billing and payment

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automaticallyuntil you cancel. Every plan includes two monthly allowances that reset each month:

  • a usage allowance, in US dollars of usage at the published rates, which pays for cloud runs, browser time, crawled pages, monitoring checks and residential bandwidth; and
  • an AI allowance, in tokens, which pays only for managed AI. The usage allowance never pays for AI, and the AI allowance never pays for anything else.

Usage beyond an allowance is charged to your prepaid balance at the same published rates. You add funds from $5 to $1000 at a time. If the balance is empty, cloud work beyond your allowances pauses until you add funds or the allowance resets; usage is never charged to your card automatically. Current rates include:

  • Cloud runs: each cloud workflow run costs at least $0.001, which covers its first 30 seconds, then $0.002 per minute of browser time. Runs that fail because of a fault in our managed infrastructure are not charged; runs that fail for any other reason are charged for the time they ran.
  • Crawling: $0.002 per page; some page types count as more than one page, as shown on the pricing page.
  • Monitoring: $0.0004 per static-page check and $0.002 per browser-rendered check.
  • Residential bandwidth, when a run uses a managed residential route: $10 per gigabyte.
  • Managed AI beyond the AI allowance: from $3.20 per million tokens; larger models cost more, and the price is shown before you run. Where your plan lets you route AI to your own provider keys, that inference is billed by your provider.
  • Runs on your own machine (local, self-hosted or BYO agents) carryno compute charge on any plan, including Free, however the run was started.

The complete, current rates and plan limits are on the pricing page. Plan limits (for example concurrent browsers, monitors, monitoring load, endpoints, personas and scheduled workflows) are part of each plan and are enforced by the Service.

Changing plans. Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged a prorated amount for the rest of the period. Downgrades and switching from yearly to monthly billing also take effect immediately; the unused part of the current plan is credited against your next subscription invoices and is never paid out in cash. Yearly plans are paid for twelve months at once; their price is fixed for that term and the allowances still reset monthly.

Rollover. On paid plans, the unused part of a month's usage allowance (not the AI allowance), up to one month's allowance, carries over to the next month only. It is used after that month's own allowance, has no cash value, and is lost if the plan is cancelled, paused or moved to Free.

Pausing. You may pause a monthly or yearly paid plan for up to 3 months, once in any twelve-month period. During a pause you are not billed, your account uses Free plan limits, and schedules and monitors that were on are switched off and switched back on when the pause ends. The pause ends automatically on the date you chose, or earlier if you resume.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for; your account then moves to the Free plan and keeps its workflows, data and endpoints, subject to Free plan limits and our retention windows.

Automatic renewal. When you buy or change a plan you confirm that it renews automatically at the price shown until you cancel, and we email you a confirmation with the plan, its price, the next renewal date and how to cancel. Before a yearly plan renews we email you a reminder 15 to 30 days ahead; for a monthly plan we remind you of these terms once a year. You can always cancel online from your dashboard.

Price changes. We may change prices, rates or plan limits. We will give at least 30 days' notice of a price increase for your plan by email or in the Service; it applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you may cancel before then. Taxes are added where required.

Refunds and credits are governed by the Refund Policy. In short, subscription fees, allowances, balance top-ups and usage are non-refundable except as that policy or mandatory law provides.

6. Trial, referrals and founding members

  • Trial. A new account may receive a free trial of a higher plan's limits and features for 14 days, once per organization. During the trial the account's own usage and AI allowances apply. No payment details are required and nothing is charged when it ends; the account keeps the Free plan's limits.
  • Referrals. When an organization signs up with your referral link and starts its first paid subscription, both organizations receive the referral credit shown in the Service (currently $10) on their prepaid balance, once per referred organization. Referral credit has no cash value. Self-referrals, duplicate or fake accounts, and referrals obtained through spam or misleading promotion are not eligible, and credit obtained that way may be removed. We may change or end the referral program at any time; credit already granted stays on your balance.
  • Founding members. The first 500 organizations to start a paid subscription are founding members. A founding member keeps the price of its plan and billing period, excluding taxes, for as long as that subscription stays active and in good standing without interruption. The lock ends if the subscription is cancelled, lapses for non-payment, or moves to another plan, and it does not prevent changes to plan limits or features.

7. Marketplace

The marketplace lets publishers list workflows and other users install and run them. The following terms apply:

  • Recipes only. Published workflows are recipes; the publisher's credentials, personas, secrets, and inputs are stripped at publish and are never used by the people who install them.
  • You own your data. You install a recipe, attach your own data and credentials, and run it on your own account and machine or cloud.
  • Pricing. Marketplace listings are free to install. You still pay for any platform compute a run consumes, as described on thepricing page.
  • Review. Listings are subject to pre-publication review and ongoing moderation.

8. Data and privacy

Your data is yours. We do not sell it or train models on your runs. Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, and for customers processing personal data through the Service, theData Processing Addendum applies.

9. Service availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability, with reasonable notice when possible. Enterprise plans may include a separately agreed SLA.

10. Intellectual property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Writ. Workflows, recipes, Monitors, configurations, and data you create remain your property. You grant us the limited license needed to host and operate the Service on your behalf.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Writ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us for the Service in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Where applicable law does not permit that limitation, our total aggregate liability shall not exceed US$1,000. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your plan at any time (section 5). We may suspend or terminate your account for a breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for non-payment, or where required by law; where the breach can reasonably be remedied, we will tell you first. Termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund, and any remaining prepaid balance and promotional credit is forfeited, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Upon termination your right to access the Service ceases. We retain and then delete your data in accordance with the Privacy Policy retention windows, except where law requires longer retention (for example, billing and wallet records).

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When a change affects a paid plan you hold, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, with the new wording, the wording it replaces and the date it applies. If you do not accept it, you may cancel that plan without cost or penalty up to 30 days after the change takes effect, and we then refund the prepaid part of the current period that you will not use. We announce other material changes by email or a notice in the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws in force in Québec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the paragraph below, you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district of Montréal, Québec.

If you contract with us as a consumer, nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your place of residence, including — where theConsumer Protection Act (Québec) applies — your right to bring proceedings in the district of your own domicile.
